Fraga hits Vesti but the Danish wins anyway

A race with a somehow predictable, result having Vesti in pole, has in the end been much more challenging due to the Fraga running into the back of the Danish’s car, but the Prema Powerteam champion wins anyway

We have seen quite a few times drivers being able to conquer 3 pole positions and 3 wins in a racing weekend, simply starting and ending at the front. This is not the case of Frederik Vesti (Prema Powerteam), as in race 1 due to a bad start he has had to overtake quite a few drivers, and in race 2 Igor Fraga (DR Formula by RP Motorsport) running into his car throws him towards the gravel, making him loose quite a few positions. Even less fortunate his teammate Enzo Fittipaldi who goes even wider into the gravel and loses much more time.

In front at this point we find Fraga, David Schumacher (US Racing), and Olli Caldwell (Prema Powerteam). Vesti starts a furious recovery, with fast laps one after the other and with a pace around 5 tenths of a second faster than leaders Fraga and Schumacher. After a few laps Vesti overtakes in one go Konsta Lappalainen (KIC Motorsport) and his teammate Isac Blomqvist, and after that also Raul Guzman (DR Formula by RP Motorsport).

In the meantime an unguilty and fast Sophia Floersch (Van Amersfoort Racing) is hit by Tom Beckhauser (Technorace Srl).

Vesti recovers another position when Olli Caldwell (Prema Powerteam) has to retire due to technical problems, while in the meantime Fittipaldi gains 9° position. 17’30” to the end of the race Alexandre Bardinon (Van Amersfoort Racing) has an accident and safety car enters the track, making all drivers get together in one group. Fraga is then communicated penalty of Drive Through for causing a collision (hitting Vesti) and so will lose first position.

At the restart after safety car the first 3 positions, with Schumacher, Vesti and Lappaleinen, do not change. Vesti though has totally another pace and after a few tentative overtakes where he studies his rival, he manages to overtake the German and gain first position and finally win race 2 in front of Schumacher and Lappaleinen.

Race 3 will start at 16:10 and it will be possible to follow it live on motorsport.tv and AutomotoTV and streaming on www.acisport.it and the Facebook page of the Championship.
